With Thanksgiving behind us, my hope is that you have as much to be thankful for as I do.
I was personally blessed to have enjoyed time with my family. As we sat around the table, my
father shared stories and reminded us of some of the things our mother used to do when she was with us. It’s great for Dad to share those stories with us, his children and grandchildren.
This Holiday season is a wonderful time to reflect on everything in your life. Pick up the phone and call someone you haven’t spoken to in a while, maybe even years, like an aunt, uncle, cousin or maybe an old friend.
The Holiday season is a very emotional time for all of us. Shopping for gifts and groceries can be especially hectic; parking is usually just the beginning of all of the stress we feel. We need to take time to relax.
My suggestion is to plan ahead, plan your route, give yourself time and make room for a stranger to pass you in an aisle, say excuse me or pardon me, say Happy Holidays, smile and
most of all remember that the Holidays are a time for giving. If you have time to volunteer,
you might call (AGE) Austin Group for the Elderly or your local Area senior Center, or
you could donate your time to your local church or homeless shelter. If you haven’t done
some of the things I have suggested, you might be amazed at how wonderful it makes you
feel.
The Staff of the Senior Advocate Newspaper, wish you and yours a very Happy Holiday
Season and a prosperous New Year., See you next year
